Songwriting Opportunities Issue 001

We connect unsigned artists, bandswith all major record labels

October 21, 2010

Mynority (25)
Los Angeles based music producer. By nature, I prefer discovering new
talent and working with songwriters, rather than artists, because i
avoid egos and make hit songs. i created weshopsongs.com to network
with musicians all over world to establish music communicators. As a
music network site, the goal here goes beyond making songs, our
community has also had songs play on television shows, movies, and
commercials.

As a musicians tool, I will be updating site monthly with new
opportunities for song submissions. I am lucky to be part of an era
where the means of the internet help merge talent worldwide. Never
before has there been a platform for talent to work together in one
place, right from home. While on one hand, I am a musician, and on
the other I am an internet junkie who views the rules of the game
changing, and I enjoy being on the forefront of music evolution.

The Internet is rapidly becoming the primary source for
communication, and even performance. At this point, I've placed songs
with songwriters Ive never even met. Through internet tools, ive been
able to build these connections and make hits.

My promise to you:

Every time you receive an email for me, I'll include tools I've
acquired over years to get success. Success is more than promoting
your myspace page, its a numbers game. You must network and work with
others in order to really obtain recognition. I hope you will take
heed to these words of wisdom, and that I will hear back from you
soon.

Hi,

Just for the record, I myself, hate unrequested emails or letters.
However, as a CEO of a music company, my goal is to branch out and
meet undiscovered talent- those who are musicians or singer/song
writers who need someone to take them to that next step.

Your goals and mine are not that different, and our talents not too
far apart. What separates me from you is that I can help you to do
music as a career professionally. As you can see from my mini bio (in
the red column to the left) is that I have worked trying to make my
mark in this industry for years, and even when I have made those
dents, I still continue to want to make more. As they say, life is a
journey, not a destination.

In a nutshell, let me tell you what I have learned in the last 7
years that you can take with you. I have found that songwriters and
recording artists who I've seen prosper are those who work with
others to take that next step, not the ones who try to do it alone.
Undeniably, if you are a singer/ songwriter, your work is invaluable
to you and as I sink teeth deeper into this game, I realize it is
never what it seems: take an artists like Britney Spears who sings a
good song, dances, performs; essentially an embodiment of all the
talents coming together. Guess who is writing her music?

I'll be honest with you, you have two options as a recording artist:
you can record your own music, with no following and promote it all
ways possible; or you can create a hit song and submit it to an
already-popular artist, increasing your chances of have a song
credited with your name. Doing it the latter way is going against the
grain, but more likely that you'll get more exposure.

How I work: I receive songs from writers and singers like you, who
like me, desire a hit. The work we collaborate on goes out to music
publishing companies for artists looking for music. I have access to
that list of those artists in need of songs. What this letter is to
you is an opportunity for you to join in the endeavor.

How you can benefit: I know what you're thinking, okay, so what's in
it for me. Go to www.weshopsongs.com and download my instrumental to
mix to your song, and submit it back to me. If you decide to use your
own music, I will most likely touch it up with my own mixing.
Thereafter, I will present our song to submit to A&Rs I connect with
regularly.

Got all that? If not, here's a recap:

Go to WeShopSongs.com Download industry approved instrumentals to
write lyrics to & create a song (or use your own beat, but I'll
fine-tune anything I expect to be tweaked by A&Rs) I shop your song
around (for free) with always your permission first. Now what are you
waiting for? Go submit your talent!

"Golden Opportunities 001"

-
http://ping.fm/vzbtU Britney Spears

Vocals: Pop Dance Electronic Top 40I am really looking for 8 bar
hooks, no 16's. The hook needs to summarize the song and get to the
point right from the start of the hook, don't wait till the end,
think "Californian girls" by Katy Perry. No one word chorus that
repeat the word over and over..

Instruments: Synth, Huge Drums, MGMT Style, Trance, Acoustic Guitar ,
Think 90's rock meets electronic trance. Rock beats, with 808
undertones, are a must!

-
http://ping.fm/TSbu2 Cody Simpson

Vocals: Pop records, top40, think NSYNC lyrics but with an up to date
pop sound, you can hear where he is going with the material that is
online... VERY female positive records, for girls 18-24. hooks and
complete songs. LOADS of melody.....yes he is 14, but don't make his
age evident...no songs with silly concepts like facebook and
twitter...and nothing about first loves. Instruments: Acoustic
Guitar, Piano, Big Drums, & Synth (Electro), (NOT JUSTIN BIEBER)

-
http://ping.fm/8CY78 Rihanna

Vocals: It needs to be very positive , but not preachy. Hooks and
song concepts, with LOADS of melody...you could have someone from a
current rock band in mind doing the hook. Music that will inspire
women of all ages. Instruments: Trance, 808, Fast Beats, Synth,
Electronic, House, Guitars, Horns, and Strings. (OPPOSITE OF HER LAST
ALBUM)

-
http://ping.fm/ORHdw Taio Cruz

Vocals: Cant sound like any of his previous singles, leaning more
towards the Rock side, like Rock with an R&B flavor. Has to be very
positive as well, but not preachy. Song ideas and so on. Instruments:
Piano, Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Rock Drums, 808 (USHER meets R
KELLY)

In Conclusion...

For your protection please keep this email and all other
correspondence we exchange. Security is extremely important to me and
I understand the caution exercised when submitting music to someone
you do not know.

Believe me when I say that I did not get into position by stealing
music, but instead am trying to build working relationships with
other artists to submit to lawyers and A&Rs I communicate with
weekly. Again, save all correspondence we share and know that I will
not move forward with any business endeavors without your consent
first.

W.S.S will be sending a weekly email (4 emails a month), with new
songwriting opportunities, industry connects, and music (albums,
videos, clothing) all for FREE.

Forward this message to a friend -
http://ping.fm/OZCwj who can benefit from this situation... :)

You can't stay the same. If you're a musician and a singer, you have
to change, that's the way it works.
